DI and CL lesson design
Length: 2500-3000 words
This task assesses your knowledge of the theoretical and research based underpinning of inclusive teaching by looking closely at how you apply the principles of two pedagogies of inclusion. In order to do this you will create 5 learner outcomes for a unit of work (of your choice) and then develop two lessons within the unit (one using Direct Instruction, one using Cooperative Learning). Specifically you will need to include:
A. 5 Learner Outcomes for a unit of work 5 marks
B. Lesson Design (Direct Instruction) (approximately 800 words) 10 marks
C. Theoretical Reflection / Rationale-Direct Instruction (approximately 500 words) 12.5 marks
D. Lesson Design (Cooperative Learning) (approximately 800 words) 10 marks
E. Theoretical Reflection / Rationale-Cooperative Learning (approximately 500 words) 12.5 marks
This assessment requires you to create two lessons using two focus pedagogies of inclusion – Direct Instruction (DI) and Cooperative Learning (CL). After completing a DI and CL lesson design including the relevant key characteristics, you will be required to provide research-based reflection on each. Both of the lessons must relate to the same unit of work (of your choosing).
All assessment components (A-E), along with part A, are to be submitted as one assessment item by the due date.
