There is not a template for the cover letter. Think of this as a formal letter to your client (Mr. and Mrs. Loyola). Consider what their needs and concerns would be — what do they care about? Probably budget and schedule for sure! But what else? Think of it as a packing list for the 3 items included. And that you are pointing out some significant and important project points for the client.
— Start off with a brief overview of the project’s goals. Consider this similar to an Executive Summary introduction. Provide the highlights of the project — some key items.
— Describe the 3 items that are part of the project plan packet. Describe them so the client knows what is included in the Final Project Plan and the various documents purpose. What would you want to know about these items if you are not a PM but the sponsor or client? For example, explain what the MS project file contains — the Gantt charter, Network Diagram, Resource Sheet and Cost information by tasks and activity roll up.
