Physical Punishment

Approximately 70% of people in the US agree that some form of physical punishment for children is appropriate, whereas many other industrialized nations have made physical punishment illegal.

As we learned in the lecture on discipline, physical punishment may be effective in some cases, but it is also associated with problems in parenting, including modeling aggressive behavior and having children avoid the punishing adult.

Should physical punishment of children be legal or illegal in the US?
